Léon : The Professional is a timeless masterpiece starring Jean Reno, Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman. Luc Besson directs a perfectly balanced crime thriller with western action set pieces and a European sensibility for character. In this video I explore the use of symbols and how Leon and Matilda save each other during the film.

FINDING NEMO | The Art of Storytelling
What did you find down the rabbit hole? Anything of value?... and what's happening now for you? Good stuff I hope. Brian
I put this movie up with Elden Ring, the Green Knight, The Game and many others that depict the alchemical process of individuation and enlightenment and death and rebirth throigh symbols and old and new stories and an exteriorization of the inner world. The fact that some don't like this movie kills me but who cares
Is Pinocchio really the darkest Disney movie? The Hunchback of Notre Dame is pretty dark, too.
"How ill view this movie differently after another 4 years." So... How about 7?
You did not ask for it, but your content made me do it, SUBSCRIBED!
2:31 the greatest romantic scene in movie history
Great video. New subscriber
Thanks man, Ive been meaning on re-watching this movie, haven't seen it in years now! Too good.
You name a film King of Comedy and audiences don't get the implications
Warhol said it best. In the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes.
Can't we settle for mediocracy and just get along? Not everything has to be so life or death
This movie sucks 🥱
He is the best there is, actor, director, personality, filmmaker and storyteller.
Daniel is a man absolutely fed up by snakes & those who foolishly support them...
Damn... seems like I found this channel too late, hope everything is ok and you can continue these brilliants videos!
Thanks Dan, I'd love to have another run of video essays at some point, but juggling this channel with work stuff outside of YT, I generally create videos in phases, so sometimes really quite and then other times I can do constant videos. Its not been my priority as of late. But I'm sure the timing with line up again at some point. Thanks for the support.
Thank you, this is the best movie theory ever!
How can Alex drive if he has the mind of a ten year old?
Check out when Barry punches the map on the wall inside his office. When he places his hand on the piano, his knuckles show the word LOVE.
The theme of the Bible is love. Love is found in peace. Peace is found with being still, living in and living the present- no matter what situation it presents. In being present, in being at peace in the present one is absent of hate, resentment and judgement. “Forgive those who trespass against us” Forgiveness is apologizing for resenting.‘psychologically judgment and resentment is literally living by your perception and expectations. When someone trespasses against you- it’s nothing new; it is not the world aiming directly at you. It’s something that is happening. You did not create yourself nor the world so the act of judgement is literally pretending to be- or playing as- God. If he were still and patient the result would have been the s same and he wouldn’t have tortured someone. Everything Keller did was for not and he became imprisoned. You become who you hate when you live in your ego. Learn pain and let the ego die by accepting powerlessness. But he took things in his own hand, replaced his daughter in her prison and never saw her rescued. Keller- not the bad guy- could be seen as the antagonist.
It manages to get you invested in music and the tension of performance even if you’ve never had the experience. That’s what a good story does. It makes you feel like you’re apart of it.
Great film. Jerry Lewis was magnificent, he was a celebrity for so long, he was a perfect choice. Everyone in this ensemble was fantastic. It is so poignant for today.
Hey, thanks for taking the time to make this commentary. I learned a few new things and got my brain refreshed on things that stuck with me since I was a little kid. Solid job dude.
Thanks man! Great movie to watch and talk about, been a while since I've seen it, maybe due a re watch.
'Thanks'... for the clarity, and for the uplifting spirit to keep working to make the writing results better... for audiences. Brian Couch
Thanks Brian, this is one of my fav videos ive made, despite the views, I spend so long researching and digging into his life and scripts. I really wish this video had existed when I was going down the rabbit hole. Thats basically why I made it.
The King of Comedy is one of my top favorite movies.
2024! My life changed when i discovered this film 2 years ago because of the themes explored with death, the denial of mortality, life, living, existence, hope, despair, etc. I dont think there will be any film explores this kind of concept rather than the Fountain itself.
Rached hates McMurphy the same way Hilary hates Donald Trump.I noticed a few other similarities 😂
The film is a masterpiece, the book is an absolute classic. As terrifying as it is inspiring.
2:14 Pumpkin?? 😆
The best part, no C.G.I.
Please do Leonard Part 6
Could you make a video on black swan
Thats an awesome film! Would be a good one to dig into.
Ratchet is a sadist. She hides behind the veil of benevolent nurse but she enjoys wielding the power she has. She keeps McMurphy there to finish the game. She’s not done with him, she wants to crush his spirit in front of the others. Personally I view her as a feminist that took the job to get even with men.
Ending of taxi driver was not fantasy. Shepherd's character was drawn to powerful men. He became famous on the news.
I've seen this video more than a handful times, but I came back to watch this essay after having begun Marshall McLuhan’s book The Gutenberg Galaxy. Just FYI for any other nerds looking for a rabbit hole to dive into. Worth a read.
Awesome! Love a wee nerd investigation.
Thank you for a well constructed narrative of the film. Brilliant. Yes without a doubt one of the the very best films of all time. Seen it many times and am always in floods of tears. Watching what you presented, reminded me that he could have got away but instead went to check on Billy. I think I would have reacted the same. I have ADHD and it hasn't been said, but I believe he had this condition too. We feel things very deeply. He was a good man with an enormous personality and for that he was punished.
The movie was boring as hell and the romance was wooden and generic
You've changed your thumbnails. Genius.
Yeah, since some of these original videos were made 10 years ago, there was a real mix and no consistent theme across the channel. I really had no idea what I was doing 10 years ago, so updating the thumbnails made sense.
@@_MUSTSEEFILMS_ it also gives these videos a fresh look. Always a fun time to rewatch these
It the one of th Greatesr Films of All Time ❤
just saw this movie for the first time and WOW i am absolutely blown away.
Yeah it is one of the best, I can't even imagine watching it for the first time, how amazing that would be!
It’s a coming of age, and not everyone understood the way it mirrors growing up.
i didnt think nurse ratched was malicious until rn
Hated this movie as a kid loved it as an adult.I wish the battle scenes were longer. You made a good analysis of the film. it really was like watching a living painting.Come alive! Kubricks best work 🏆
Taking power back? Shes nuts.
Wow this is an awesome video, thank you.
I think the guy that the preacher killed was Alex’s “aunts” husband who let her after they had a fight. Too many coincidences in this movie
It's a masterpiece indeed. Nice analysis!
I have just finished this masterpiece and found your perspectives fascinating and thought-provoking! Thank you very much for making this video. It would be great if you could have one episode talking about The Dark Knight, which is definitely one of my favourite movies of all time.
Beautiful review! wanted to share what you thought about it before I watched it for the first time. Cheers.
Cathartic ending? If it was cathartic, the Karens of the world wouldn't have cried so much about it that they got mental asylums outlawed. Now we're all dealing with the ending of this terrible movie every time we pass a homeless person in the street rambling incoherently.
Only one who can do it is James Incandenza
great video
